Tiffany's Maternity

Tuesday, November 14, 2017 0 comments
I was thrilled when a friend of mine, Bella, asked me to join her for a casual maternity photo shoot of Tiffany and Jevier. At first I was kinda nervous since both of them are actually quite famous! And to be honest, I'm not familiar with Indonesian celebrities. So, I didn't really know what kind of expectation they have and how to behave in front of them (on top of that, I was an hour late due to horror traffic). Luckily, the awkwardness crumbled in a split second as we introduced ourselves to each other. They are very friendly, charming, humble, and of course photogenic!

Nany + Vincent

Saturday, October 7, 2017 0 comments
Nany and Vincent's engagement shooting took place in Frankfurt just one day after Srishti and Rashu's (well, we rent a fisheye lens for the whole weekend, so we have to make use of it as much as possible). The shooting started earlier in order to capture the empty street in Taunusanlage area and avoid any car accident. Luckily, we were able to stroll around the main station and Alte Oper, which we couldn't manage the day earlier. Hence, even though we had a similar route and location, we were still able to get many different perspective and angle of Frankfurt.

Today, they tie the knot in Bad Homburg. Being thousand miles away, I'm so sad not being able to be there to celebrate their big day.

Happy Wedding Nany + Vincent!
May the years ahead be filled with lasting joy.

Lizzy Vol 4

Tuesday, April 11, 2017 1 comments
My best friend, Lisa, gathered her courage to open her own clothing line. It is her dream to own her own boutique and design women apparel. Her fourth collection consists of just a few new arrivals. So it's not worth it to book a studio and a professional model for this mini collection.

We had the photoshoot in a small cafe in Menteng (Central Jakarta) and started quite early to avoid disturbing other customers (of course we also asked permission from the cafe owner to have a photoshoot there). The place is perfect for casual photoshoot and it provides a lot of natural light. Moreover, the interior's color palette fits perfectly with the color of the new attires.

Also, meet Jady, her 6yo daughter who didn't want to be missed. One day, she can be a super model, or a fashion blogger, or a doctor, or a scientist, even a president... But right now, she just enjoys being a beloved daughter wearing a matching outfit and let her mother-daughter-moment being captured.

Srishti + Rashu -- the wedding --

Tuesday, January 10, 2017 0 comments
There is always a first time for everything: our first visit to India and attending an Indian wedding. Due to our very short stay, we skipped many rituals during the day, so we could have a little tour in New Delhi and Agra. Luckily, we had enough energy to party past midnight for two days straight.

On the first day, we celebrated Sangeet, which is a celebration of the union of not only the couple, but also both families. It was full of music and dance, mostly dance performances by the couple, families, and guests (so, Indians really love to dance, not only in Bollywood movies, but also in real life!). Even though the party was also very colorful, we decided to capture the moments in black and white as a contrast to the pictures of the wedding party.

On the second day, there were so much excitement during the wedding celebration. First, the groom made a flashy entrance by riding a horse to the venue (not so sure if it was his idea or it was actually part of the tradition). Then the bride's sisters/family welcomed the groom at the entrance, but before letting him in, the groom had to made some bargaining. Too bad that we couldn't understand most part of the deals (which definitely must be funny since they laughed so hard during the process).

A couple of hours later, after a few drinks and lots of dances, we realized that the bride and the groom weren't a husband and a wife yet; not until the last ceremony at the end of the wedding celebration. Sadly, we couldn't stay for the most important ceremony since we had to catch our flight early in the morning.

Thank you Srishti+Rashu for sharing us these unforgettable moments. Best wishes on your wonderful journey together and may the years be filled with lasting joy.

Srishti + Rashu

Wednesday, November 16, 2016 0 comments
Srishti is one of my closest friends in university. Not long after graduation, she told me that she's getting married in November. At the same time, I also had to tell her about leaving Germany at the end of August. So, we decided to have a little FUN project during my last summer in Frankfurt, just a few weeks before leaving.

We spent the whole Saturday walking around Frankfurt. Some friends also joined us during the shooting as a makeup artist/stylist or an assistant. We also rent a fish eye lens and had fun seeing the world through it (though I still cannot decide whether I should buy it or not). Overall, we had a great time and I smiled a lot as I did the post processing while remembering funny little things.

Their engagement and wedding ceremony will be held in New Delhi this weekend. It'll be my first time visiting India (and attending Indian wedding) and India is on my bucket list for a very long time (although it'll be a very short visit). I'm looking forward to be there and capture their special moment.

Life Begins at 30

Saturday, December 20, 2014 0 comments
"Life begins at 30...
The last 29 years have just been a practice!"

That was Lisa's favourite motto as her 30th birthday was getting near and also her reason to celebrate it big. She and I have been best friend for sixteen years and I'm so glad that I happened to be in Jakarta to witness her special day.

Happy Birthday my dearest friend!
Life is indeed a journey and I hope you enjoy every mile...

White Space, Black Typo, and The Couple

Sunday, February 3, 2013 0 comments
As I passed Willy-Brandt-Platz U-Bahn station in Frankfurt, suddenly ideas popped up in my mind and made me had an urge to take pictures of it. What makes the location so special is: the white space and the huge black typography. The giant words on the empty walls really turned the boring place into an interesting one.

After days of longing, at last I managed to have a short photo session yesterday. I also felt so thankful, that Nany and Vincent agreed to be the models. All photos are in black and white, not only because it suited the location theme, but also gave dramatic looks as well.

Balinese Wedding

Friday, February 1, 2013 0 comments
I was arranging our photo album of 2012, as I found these photos again. The pictures are just too beautiful to be left on our hard drive. So I decided to put these on this blog.

It was the wedding of my cousin, Mitzi, who got married in Bali last October. Her husband, Made, is a Balinese, and they decided to get married in his hometown, Klungkung. Actually, I couldn't come to their wedding, because I couldn't extend my holiday at that time. But luckily, my husband managed to be there (he's my mentor, by the way). So he took the pictures, and I did the post processing. Editing the pictures was kinda hard for me. The more I see, the more I regret for not being there personally. It became my greatest regret of the year.

I just love traditional wedding, it has its own charm and beauty. The wedding seems so colorful and also shows the rich culture of Bali. The best part is: the butterfly story. My husband told me, that during the ceremony, a big black butterfly came and sat on the bride's head accessoires. The people started to notice it, because it sat there for quite a long time. Since the Balinese are quite superstitious, they told the bride that "someone special" was coming to visit through the butterfly. And she was quite sure that it was her father, who passed away a few years ago. I cried as I heard the story about the butterfly, and wished that the superstitious were true. Her father was my favorite uncle, somehow hearing that story also brought back the memories about him.

So, congratulation once again to Mitzi&Made. Wish you both live happily ever after...

The Dancer

The show was part of our tour in China. We forgot the name of the show (it happens when you don't arrange your own travel and we're also not so good at remembering names). We're quite lucky to have our seat on the front row, though we didn't understand the story they told (I regret for not continuing my Chinese lessons years ago).

Vivy's Maternity Moment

Sunday, October 14, 2012 0 comments
Vivy is a friend of a friend of mine. It was my first time meeting her, and I'm so glad that she agreed to be my model. I must admit that I should've learned more about posing the model, but somehow, she managed to give me a natural look. I love photographing mom-to-be. They have a charm that makes them look so beautiful and their faces seem glowing full of happiness.... yes, that makes me a little bit jealous ;)

Mel's First Bump

Tuesday, August 7, 2012 0 comments

A few weeks ago, we managed to organize a surprise party for our dear friend; Mel. We also made a small photo session to take a memory for her first bump. Because it might be awkward for her to show her tummy around the guys, so I took my husband's camera, and be the "photographer" that day.

Well, because of that incident, now I become addicted to be the one behind the lens :)
